LPTW: Everything You Need To Know

The Lowcountry Performance Technology Workshops are less than a month away and we can’t wait to see you there! The workshops will consist of a mix of lectures and hands-on activities focused on theatrical rigging and fall protection, so come ready to listen and participate! Please read through the info below to prepare for the workshops and know what to expect.

Registration
August 7th | 8:30 – 9:00 AM
College of Charleston Sottile Theatre
Workshops will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one hour lunch break each day.
Attendees will be responsible for providing their own lunch.
Meet Your Guest Speaker


Ethan Gilson is an entertainment rigging and lighting industry veteran with over 25 years of experience. He holds a BFA in Design Technology-Lighting from Emerson College (1998) and started his career as an equipment specialist/technician. Gilson later became a rigging specialist and has designed rigging systems for portable and permanent installations. Today, he is the owner of Entertainment Rigging Services LLC, which specializes in entertainment rigging inspections, training, design, and installation. Gilson has worked in various venues, including hotel ballrooms, Las Vegas convention centers and arenas, New York theaters, and outdoor festivals. He is also an ETCP (Entertainment Technician Certification Program) Rigging Certification Subject Matter Expert, chair of several ESTA (Entertainment Services and Technology Association) Technical Standards Program task groups, and a recipient of the ESTA TSP “Above and Beyond Award” in 2020. Gilson is OSHA 10/30 certified and has continued his education through various training programs. In 2012, he became an ETCP Recognized Trainer and launched Entertainment Rigging Sessions; these sessions are recognized by the ETCP as qualifying instruction for certification/re-certification. Gilson also hosts Shackles, Burlap, & Lies, an industry podcast.
Important Info
Got Gear? Bring It!
If you have your own hard hat, helmet, fall protection gear, etc. feel free to bring it with you and Ethan will inspect your equipment to ensure it’s in tip top shape before your next job.
Invoices
All registration fees need to be paid by July 31st. If you have already registered and have not received an invoice via email, please let us know and we can resend it.
Certificates
Certificates will be emailed to attendees upon the completion of all workshops. If you are pursuing an ETCP certification or re-certification, you will receive 28 credit hours.

There are many hotel options for out-of-town visitors in the Charleston area. LPTW does not have a designated hotel for out-of-town visitors; however, The College of Charleston has been kind enough to provide us with a list of hotels that provide discounted rates.
